Tweaks

Model with waist coat

This week I have been working on my model. I have made some small changes since last week.
I have made the shirt and waist coat as a separate model which makes the model its self look a lot better.

I have also made some small tweaks to the shirt, waist coat and the jacket.

Well that's everything for now.

Since my last post I have finished my Mudbox project by making the following changes:

  • Changing the eye and adding a template instead of drawing it on
  • Changed the detail on the right eye
  • Added a texture to the skin
  • Added detail to the neck

I have mainly been working on my model this week by making the following changes:

  • Modeled a top hat, tie, shoes and a belt
  • Finished modelling the hands
  • Made some changes to the vest

Well that's everything for now.

Modelling, Mudbox and more. #2

It's been about two weeks since I did my last post and alot has happened.
Since the last post there has been alot of changes to my mudbox project. I have started adding paint and textures and it's coming along nicely, I'm going to try and have this finish in the next two weeks.

I have also been working on some concepts to go toward my character. I have been working on his pocket watch and a few different character poses. I will be adding some more poses to this drawing in the next few days.

In the past three weeks I have started working on the 3D model of myself so far I have finished the head and now I'm working on the body.
Well that's everything for now.

Modelling, Mudbox and more.

This week I have been modelling my own face in 3DS Max, using Mudbox to create a creepy looking puppet and drawing up a concept for my characters pocket watch.

I will be uploading some screenshots of the head im working on at a later date due to it being in the early stages.

This week I have nearly finished working on the face of this puppet, I'm planning on adding hair next week so then I can get started on texturing.
I've been modelling the head today but I've been having some trouble with making the nose and the ears, so I've decided that I will work on it next week instead so that I can move onto other pieces of work that needs finishing.
Today I have drawn up a pocket watch that my character can use, this is just a quick drawing. I will be adding some more colour and detail in the next couple of days.
Once I have finished this sketch I'm going to work on a final concept so that I can put more of my attention into the 3D side.

Well that's everything for now.

Three Game Companies

Last year I written a document about three companies I would love to work for once I finish my degree in GameArt. I thought now would be a good time for me to share it with you guys.

Jagex
I’m really interested with working with Jagex on their game ‘Runescape’. I would love to work on some concepts ideas and have some of my work implemented in game. I would also like to work on some of the characters models and environments. I have been playing Runescape for about 10 years now so this would be a dream come true to work on one of my favourite games of all time.

Naughty Dog
Naughty Dog is one of my favourite gaming companies of all time just due to the fact that they made the Crash bandicoot series which was and still is one of my favourite series. Even though Naughty Dog don’t own the rights to Crash bandicoot anymore they have made so great games after it such as Jak and Daxter, the Uncharted games and there most recent ‘The Last of Us’. I would love to work on some of the character designs on some of Naughty Dogs games like Jak and Daxter because my type of drawing style would fit into those games really well just like it would with the Crash Bandicoot series.

Insomniac Games
Just like Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games is one of my favourite gaming companies of all time this is mainly because of the Spyro series, this is a series I still go back to now and then. Just like Naughty Dog, Insomniac Games no longer own the Spyro series which is a real shame but they do more other great games like Ratchet and Clank. I would love to work for a company like Insomniac games because they make high quality games with great storylines and graphics. I would love to do some concept art or some of the 3D character models for the Ratchet and Clank series; I think my drawing style would fit into these games really well.

I'm thinking about posting another blog entry on here very soon about video games being considered as art so make sure you check that out once its posted. Also I will be posting another entry in the next couple of days on this weeks updates on what I'm working on in college.

Well that's everything for now.

College Return

This week I returned back to college and I was given a new unit called Character Modelling.
I have been told that I need to make the following:
  • A Bounty Hunter who is from the year 5220
  • He needs to reflect the era that he has gone back to
  • He should have a futuristic weapon
  • A weapon from the era he's going to
  • A time travel device
I have picked my character to go back to Victorian England.

For his futuristic weapon I have given my character a modded cane which can also be used as a shotgun.
Throughout the week I wasn't to happy with the handle of the Cane Shotgun so I decided to change the handle with a few small changes. I think this could be the final design.
This is what I want the character looks like. I may make some changes in the future.
At the moment I have only done one design for the time device, I have given the character a pocket watch. I thought this fit the character pretty well.
In this unfinished drawing I have the character opening up his blazer to show off the gun he will be using. This gun will be from the Victorian age.
I will show the finished version of this drawing in my next post.

Well that's everything for now.

**Edit**

Because I'm not planning on posting my next blog post until next week, I thought I would add the finished drawing to this post.
