Level and Character Design

This week, I've started making my level using Unreal Engine 4. At this moment I'm just setting up the foundation of my level, I think I should have this completed next week then I can start modelling within the building.
As you can see in this picture this is the ground floor of the building. This picture is taken in the living room which is next to the kitchen and the hall.
This is the upper floor of the building. I haven't had time to start making the rooms yet but I should have this finished for next week so I will keep you updated.

As I mentioned in my post 'Level Design and Digital Painting' The story behind this level is when the teenager visits the master bedroom of the house they will find blood all over the bed with a trail of bed that leads to a door which the teenager can't access. This is the picture that I'm working on at the moment to give me an idea on what It will actually look like within the level.

I've finished that drawing that I was working on the other week. This week we've been given the design brief for this assignment. I have to design a Sci-Fi hero, sidekick and a alien race that they will encounter.
This week I'm going to do some research to give me a better idea on how I want the hero, sidekick and alien race to be designed. I will keep you updated on my progress with this assignment.
Today I have done a few sketches for the sidekick. We were given the option to do either a little alien or little robot as the sidekick so far I'm not fully sure what I want to do so I'm just throwing ideas out there. I'm going to work on some hero ideas this weekend or possibly next week.

Due to being ill last week I missed out working on the cube-craft character so this week I started to work on it. I have to say I'm really happy with the way it turned out.
My idea for this project was to get one of my favorite childhood cartoon characters and make them into a blood hungry zombie and this is the outcome.

Well that's everything for this week.

Level Design and Digital Painting

After finishing my vehicle last week, Its time to move onto on a project which is level design. I have to say I'm really excited to start this project. I want my level to be about an old abandoned house that has been boarded up for a couple of years.
In the level you will play as a teenager who want to check out the house to see what's inside but sadly for him this is the last thing he wants to do due to what he finds inside.
Inside the house It looks really battered with everything inside messed up and damaged. The windows are boarded up but light leaks ins.
Once the teenager visits the master bedroom he will find blood all over the bed with a trail going into a small room in the master room, the problem is the player wont have access to this room.
The whole object to this level is to find clues on what happened in this house. the player will have to find notes, weapons and other clues to have a better idea on what went on in this house.

The garden to the house will have a creepy feeling to it with weird looking ornaments and overgrown plants.
The player will start in the garden and then they will head into the house.

This week I have also started a digital painting class. In this class we will learn different skills in Photoshop. Using these skills will help me improve my skills in my concept work and as an artists.
This is the picture that I am working on at the moment. This picture is going toward my character development, Instead of going for a Bandos look I'm going to try out some different ideas. I'm really happy on the way this one is turning out, I'll keep you updated on this drawing in the following weeks.

Well that's everything for now.

Final Renders

These past couple of posts about this project have just been small updates, This is because I couldn't make my mind up on how I wanted the vehicle to look but that all changed this week.

This week I have mainly been working on finishing small touches on my vehicle. This means I have mainly been working on the specular and bump maps.

Once I finished working on my specular and bump maps I added some reflection maps to my vehicle look more shiny.
Adding the specular maps and the reflection maps has gave the vehicle a really nice shiny finish which what I was looking for.

One of the bigger changes I made this week was changing the glass on the vehicle. Before this week It was very blocky with a simple white texture. I wasn't happy with how this was rendering so I changed it by adding a auto smooth and adding a Autodesk Metallic Paint to the glass to give it that nice finish. I also added a reflection map to the glass. I was really happy with that way this turned out.

Well that's everything for now.

Small Changes Vehicle Progress #6

This week I have decided to redesign some parts of the vehicle. For starters I have re-textured the panel on the inner engine of the vehicle. I did this redesign because I haven't been happy with it for awhile now so I thought I would re-texture the panel.

I have also remodeled 'the barrel' which came off the body of the vehicle. I did this because I thought it had no reason to be there so I redesigned it to look like a booster, which would better explain how the vehicle takes off.

This is what the Vehicle looks like now from the front, side and back.

I should have this finished in the next week or so, there is only bits and bobs to finish off and I'll be done.

Well that's everything for now.
